Eyelid Rejuvination

Blepahroplasty
This procedre will help improve the droopy skin of the upper eyelid and the puffiness of the lower eyelid. The result is a
less tired and sad appearance.

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty
This procedure will remove the skin and fat of the upper eyelid.
In tis procedure an incision is made along the upper eyelid skin. The excess skin is removed, some muscle may be
removed at the same time. The eyelid can b examined for protruding fat. Any excess fat can be removed at this time.

Lower Blepharoplasty.
An incision can be made along the conjunctiva of the lower eyelid. The protruding fat is excised and the remaining fat is
sculptured to provide a smoother appearance.
Another technique would be to excise the outer skin of the lower eyelid, just below the eyelashes. The excess skin and
fat can then be removed.

Once the excess skin and fat have been removed the wounds are then closed with a fine suture.

Post Operative Care.
Natural tears and eye lubrication are used to protect the eyes.
Light ice packs are used to help with swelling
Heavy activity should be limited until 2 weeks after surgery

This procedure will not treat crows feet, sagging eyebrows or dark circles
Ptosis  
Drooping of the eyelid may occur as we age. It is usually caused  by a stretching of the muscle. This is different then just excess skin.
On examination the upper eyelid is hanging to low which differs from those patients that just have excess skin.This procedure can be
combined with an upper blepharoplasty which will remove the excess upper eyelid skin as these patient typically do have excess skin
as well as the drooping eyelid.

Pre-operative work-up.
Patients will need visual field testing to determine if there are limitations of the superior(Upper) vision from the hanging eyelids.

Procedure is either done through an incision in the skin or through the conjunctiva of the upper eyelid.

Post-Operative Care
Cold compresses for 2 days after the surgery
lubricating drops
avoid post-operative sun exposure
